Search the web, and software vendors galore are going to make a big deal out of this task and try to sell you all sorts of expensive programs Don't spend your money.

Sounds like you are dealing with one file, and don't need a really big or detailed image.

Get a nice, large, edge-to-edge image of the .wmf file in question on your screen, using a word processing program, or whatever program you have been using to view .wmf files with.

Press Alt-Print Scrn (hold down Alt, then press Print Scrn) This will result in what is called a "Screen capture."

Open Microsoft Paint, and click edit/paste.

Edit the image as desired Crop it to get rid of the menu frame around the rest of the screen, then save it as a .bmp file.

For image editing programs, in case you want to spruce-up your newly-captured image, visit Tucows.com Such programs are plentiful, and free.
