What is this background display

When I start up my computer an image appears on the screen for a brief instant then the computer starts up just fine. This is the same when shutting down. How do I get rid of this unwanted image.

If this image was created when you were placing a desktop background on your computer at one time, go to your desktop themes and choose an original background to get rid of all images you placed on your desktop, themes overlap each other
