Using a network can I control another pc to play mp3s through my stereo systym? I recently bought an old gateway pc with a pentel 200 cpu 4 meg hard drive, 32 megs of ram. I installed win 96se. sound card and its works fine.

I helped build a car unit using a lcd screen and irc remote...but would like to control what I play from my main pc.

Thanks

Well, there's Funk Software, Inc's PROXY REMOTE CONTROL software, which sells for $271.00 A trial version is available.

Then there's a Program called Net Control, which is shareware, and costs 29.000 to buy Problem is, there are a limited number of commands you can use The trial version of Net Control is available at Tucows com, and you can try it for 14 days for free.

A company called Yaosoft has a program called COOL! Remote Control It claims to allow remote access to a remote PC by configuring the IP address into your main computer It looks worth a try, and can also be downloaded in a trial version for free To purchase the program, the cost is $39.95.

My solution to this problem is about $80.00 worth of wireless hardware from X-10.com Works pretty well, and only requires one computer.

On the other hand, since you will probably run a wire for the network card, anyway, wouldn't it be just as easy to branch off of your current sound card and run audio wires?
