Now The speakers won't work

I have a new monitor and have hooked up new speakers to the computer. Now The speakers won't work.

It might be that your speakers drivers are not compatible with your operating system When you install any kind of hardware or software you have to verify if they can be used with your operating system which in this case is Windows 98 Look in the speakers manual to find out if the driver that came with the speakers will allow them to function on Windows 98 If they dont you might need to update the drivers.
