I use xcopy to transport files and folders between my laptop and a USB "thumb drive" with 256MB memory chip. Works great.

I have tried the same scheme to transport files between server and laptop, and it won't work. I think it is because the command won't support network paths.

1. Is this correct?

2. Is their some other easy way to synchronize and transport files to and from server and laptop? Primary reason to keep server updated is for tape drive backup, offsite storage.

Thank you.

I don't think Xcopy can be used in this manner, this is an external DOS copy program that can copy subdirectories For your server needs you should try the Windows backup utility.
