Went to www.windowsupdates.com and the site downloaded and executed about 14 critical updates (I have used Windows 98SE for about 5 years and have never done any updates). Since then the following is happening

1 Can't burn a CD without errors, which never happened before. I Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platium

2 When using Hoyle Board Games, sound will suddenly stop. Sound comes back when I reboot

3 When I have number of programs running I sometimes get an error message when I try to login to the web. I get Error 630: The mocem is responding properly. If I shut down and turn off the computer, the modem will work again. A restart will not fix the problem.

4 Sometimes get a message that system memory is low. Norton's virus protection my not be able to function properly. Never got this before the updates.

5 Where it never did before the dialog box to connect to the internet appears both at boot up and at shut down. At boot up I have to click "cancel" about 3 or 4 times to get the dialog box to close, one click will close it at shut down.

Do I need to reinstall Windows 98SE and forget about the critical updates?

Thank you for your help.
