I have a cable modem connected to internet thru a router. I can't connect to the net thru the router now, but if I hook my pc directly to the cable modem I can get on line. I can connect to another pc on my home network thru the router. I've tried recycling the router and changing network cables (used a new cable), but it didn't help. Is it possible that the router simply lost it's configuration, or that the cable company "zapped" it? What else can I do to troubleshoot the problem?

Thank you.

You performed some troubleshooting techniques in checking the cables, try these steps, change the the line to the cable modem to another port and check connectivity and check connectivity to your home network, what we are trying to do is simply verify that you don't have a bad port on your router As long as you are a subscriber you will not be "zapped' and your configurations don't just change unless you change them I recently ran into that same problem If you have a bad port, share another port with a hub or switch.
