A Floppy disk drive reads and writes data to a small, circular piece of metal-coated plastic (which is the component that allows you to read info from a floppy disk)

If you have placed your floppies near a component that has a magnet or any type of electromagnetic device your floppy could have been corrupted resulting in the messeage you keep receiving Always placed floopies in places that are free from magnetic disburstances.

It is always good practice if you are keeping data on a floppy make a backup copy of the data on another floppy.
