I have had my computer for about a year now, and have had cable net for about 9mths. Recently the mouse has started moving uncontrollably erratic of it own accord. Also the computer has been turning off itself and rebooting after an “Error Screen” appears. It’s not the any of the “Power/Stand By Modes” as I have checked these all. Could it be a virus that isn’t being detected by the virus scan or is it people hacking into the computer, as I believe the firewall programs we have do not work efficiently?

You are definitely having a virus issue, a firewall won't always protect against virus, there are too many and different ways they can infratrate your system Install an anti-virus software and it should detect and get rid of it for you.
