I recently used ad-aware and deleted everything that showed up as spyware- including cookies. Ever since then, when i use the internet, it crashes (or rather freezes up), whenever i try to open a link or window from a website. Its like i can only use one window at a time, which is basically useless. i've already tried: scandisk, defragging, reinstalling internet explorer, and reinstalling my cable modem software.

thanks, justin

Chances are ad-aware is not the cause of the problem Ad-ware only detects spyware and does not detect important system files which explorer needs

I suspect you may have a virus on your computer You should go to http://nct.digitalriver.com/0001/ and download a trial version of Norton antivirus

After you have run the antivirus you should try to repair internet explorer.

Here are instructions on how you can repair your internet explorer.

Go to control panel, and click on the add/remove programs icon.

Once you are there double click on Microsoft internet explorer

A menu should pop up just select repair explorer and you should be all set.

note(the above instructions are ONLY for windows 98) you can try this on windows 2000 but it will be a little different
