Purchased HP753n Windows XP computer 12/02. Have previously downloaded and installed Windows XP Critical Updates individually (cannot install all at once) with success. However, having trouble installing Critical Updates 810577 & 811630. I get a Setup Error reading: "Setup could not verify integrity of file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic Service is running on this computer." I have checked three times and the Crypto service is running but updates still will not install. Inasmuch as they are critical updates, how can I get these two installed? Also, I don't want this problem in the future. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Try setting Cryptographic Services to Automatic for Startup type If this does not resolve the issue, stop Cryptographic Services, and then rename the %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 folder
To do so, follow these steps:
Start the Administrative Tools utility in Control Panel.
Double-click Services.
Right-click Cryptographic Services, and then click Properties.
Click Automatic for Startup type, and then click Start.
Install Windows XP SP1 again If the problem persists, go to Step 6.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each line:
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc
Type exit to close the command prompt, and then install Windows XP SP1 again.
