My son's computer came with Win ME installed. We want to downgrade the OS to Win 98 SE. Is this possible without removing his programs and files? In short, just change OS - nothing else?

When installing operating systems the only way to go is up The proper way to install operating systems is in the following manner: Windows 98 to Windows 98 SE to Windows ME to Windows 2000 to XP home edition to XP Professional.

Downgrading is not possible without losing your son's programs and files If you truly want 98 Se you are gonna have to do a clean install Make sure to backup all your important files because if you do not and install 98SE all those important files will be lost .
