:help:

Hi. I'm afraid that I'm still using MSN Messenger v5, as is a friend in the US. We can use all functionality on here, with the exception of video.

She has a webcam - I don't - and either of us can request a netmeeting. Both our names show in the dialogue box.

We would appear to have the video settings correctly set up (in that it is ticked) but I can't see the pics.

Is there anything else which needs to be adjusted? Is more information required?

Also, if my friend tries on Yahoo Messenger it tells her that she is unable because she is behind a firewall.

:woot:

Yahoo! messanger ringed true MSN does not display the Firewall message for some reason I think that this is because video streams require a specific port to be open, a port that a Firewall may not allow Make sure that a personal firewall is not running (such as ZoneAlarm or Black ICE) on either computer Also, ask your ISP and check that they allow video streams, on both sides If they don't then you are out of luck for streaming it through the messanger software such as MSN or Yahoo!

You might have better luck with other video conferencing software such as: http://eyeball.com/

or another streaming service, read up here: http://www.streamingmediaworld.com/video/reviews/complete/

Good luck,

alex
