Can't get my hard drive

I have a hard drive that crashed and I'm trying to format it but it gets to 80% and terminateds the format. When ever I try to do anything on theis drive I get "invaild media type" message

This error indicates a corrupted or missing OS boot record or a translation problem on large drives Boot from a bootup disk and run Fdsik, from the fdisk menu display the partiton information, if fdisk says that the partition table is misssing or corrupted, then restore the master boot record, from command prompt type Fdsik/MBR and try to boot from the hard drive again If this command solves the problem, then immediately run a current version of an anti-virus software o check for a virus, If the problem is not a virus, then the sectors on the hard drive are probably fading Plan to replace the drive.
