I have a problem related to my harddisk, whenever i run scandisk on my harddisk either from dos or windows it shows me an error related to free space and be easily fixed.

the error message shown is

"The drive's boot area contains important information that is damaged or invalid. This can cause windows to report the drive's free space incorrectly,or slowly. Scandisk repairs the boot area by recording the correct values in this area:

:- Repair the error.

:- Ignore this error and continue."

i think that it may be a boot sector virus. am i right or not ,please reply me soon as possible

Try this, run the deframenter to rewrite fragmented iles to contiguos sectors, and then run a current version of anti-virus software, perform a clean boot and an verify the hard disk drivers are properly installed, click start > settings > control panel > system and select performance and make sure the 32 bit drivers or in use.
