Why instead of starting Windows after the Gateway screen, does the screen go blank with the message: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device"?

The system will start normally about once every 10 attempts. The system boot order is set to CD ROM, Floppy, Hard Disk. Attempting to start in safe mode makes no difference.

Thanks,

Scott Render
