Question

When I am using IE, Kazaa or any other web based application occasionally a IE pop up window will come up titled about:blank and it will cause that window of the application to shut down through fatal error. By that window I mean if I have several windows up with IE i will only close the one I currently had up. Also any online html link that causes another window to open will open another window but it will remain blank and not respond. The kind of blank that keeps the portion of the last thing you were looking at that is in that window's area when you switch to that frozen window.

THese pop up windows are advertisements trying to load on your computer.

Kazaa and other free websites that allow you to download music and files based their assets allowing advertisers to display their ads when Kazza is being used This is called adware.

Adware is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user Adware plagues you with unwanted advertising.

Heres a webiste you can get a free download of a program that eliminates these adware parasites from dampening your internet usage www.cexx.org/noadware.htm
