I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM drive and it reads data disk but not CD-ROM, it had worked fine before but since I have moved to Uni it won't. The DVD software, powerdvd disappeared and I can't reinstall it because the drive wont read the disk. I keep getting messages to put a disk in Drive D.
On boot up it says: Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM: Failure.......
I have tried alsorts of things with it and checked it. I did get a message once saying "This device has a problem, but Windows cannot determine what the problem is."
I have tried all the options on the help menu and website, but now I'm stumped???
Can you help?
Thanks Tina

Have you tried replacing the CD-ROM with a known good bootable CD-ROM,
checking to make sure the IDE cable is firmly attached on both ends and/or
replacing the cable? If you have been fiddling with the hard drives,
you might have pulled the cable a bit loose.
