How to fix the pixels on your computer?

the resolution on my screen is not right and it has small dots that make up x shape all over the screen. it makes viewing pictures very difficult like on ebay. on my settings for pixels i think it shoul be set at a certain pixel but i cant get it to work. i have reloaded win.98 and it did not help.i turned on my computer one day and my icons were large and this was the problem. i have a 3 year old that thinks he is a computer whiz.that might have been the start of this problem. is there a simple solution to this problem. i dont know much about computers. thanks for your help

First you rigt click on your desk top then go to properties and then go to settings their you will see the settings for the pixels and also check the settings for your color try using the true color settings.
