I GOT A COMPUTER FOR FREE FROM THIS GUY I WORK WITH, HIS GIRLFRIEND USED TO WORK IN A HOSPITAL AND THAT IS WHERE THE COMPUTER IS FROM. SHE TRIED DELETING ALL THE FILES ON THERE ABOUT THE DOCTORS, BUT THE COMPUTER FROZE AND THEN SHUTDOWN AND ASKED HER FOR A PASSWORD, SHE TRIED CALLING EVERYONE SHE KNEW BUT NO ONE NEW THE PASSWORD. SO NOW I HAVE THE COMPUTER AND I AM TRYING TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO. WHEN I PUSH THE POWER BUTTON TO TURN ON THE COMPUTER IS SAYS KEYBOARD DETECTED AND SOME OTHER STUFF THEN IT ASKS FOR A PASSWORD, IT GIVES YOU THREE TIMES TO ENTER ONE THEN IT SAYS HALTED AND LOCKS UP. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO BYPASS THIS OR RE PROGRAM THE MEMORY TO DELETE IT, PLEASE HELP!

Try clearing the CMOS setup, which should restore setup to default values, open up your computer case and unplug and unplug the power supply look for the CMOS chip, and nexr to this chip is a battery that supplies power to that chip, disconnect that battery and leave off for several hours to several days Restart your computer and you should be able to use the computer and set a new password.
