Why do I keep getting an error message that says you have performed a illegal operation and will shut down?

My computer keeps freezing up once I have been online for 30 minutes or so. Then, it says that this program has performed an illegal action and will be shut down. I will only be on ebay. How can I be performed an illegal action? What is going on? This has been going on for about a week or so.

When the illegal operation error always happens at the same point, it could be a software/driver bug or file corruption If it seems completely random, it's more likely to be a hardware problem
