mcafee found a trojan at c:\windows\system32\iexplore.exe. It wont delete or quarantine it and from it's website it says that the mcafee engine should clean it. Mcafee says that it is a low rating trojan that will transmit passwords and such to an address specified by the trojan. It will automatically start each time windows starts because it is in the registry. Trojan remover from regsoft.com got rid of it for me but must have left the registry key in there because everytime I start windows it starts internet explorer automatically. Is this good, bad or whatever?

Thanks,

Arthur

Chances are trogan remover did in fact remove the virus for you However in many similar cases, programs such as Trojan remover only removes the program and DOES NOT UNDO the changes in which the virus had previously made on your system

The Trojan seems to setup your internet explorer so that it automatically starts whenever windows start You can fix this by clicking on the start menu and then go to programs When you are at programs there should be a folder call startup Inside startup should be an internet explorer icon, delete this icon and explorer will not start the next them windows starts.
