How can i restore my computer back to its original state!

I did an online virus scan which disinfects the virus, and like another persons question the virus did go, but when i click on any of my programmes a message comes up saying "Windows cannot find 'C:\Program FIles\Windows Media Palyer\WMPLAYER.EXE'. You may have typed the name incorrectly in the run dialog, try again" It happens to every thing, even the system programmes.

I read another question that you answered and it said to put my computer in safe mode, then go to run and type in MSCONFIG, but the same message comes up saying it can't find it.

How can i fix this, as computers can be very costly to fix, and i need it for work

Thanks

Gemma
