What are possible ways for your computer to see the new memory?

We put another stick of memory in our computer and we still have prompts saying we are low on disk space. Is there anything I need to do to get the computer to read the memory?

When you added the memry did you put the new chip in the 0 slot and the old chip in the 1 slot this usually works also you have to make sure they are the same mb and that they are compatiable.
