I am having trouble with my dvd player on my computer. How can I get to work properly?

I am having trouble with my dvd player on my computer. i cleaned it with the laser cleaner cd but it still somtimes dos on read and go into the dvd program. my dvds are readable but they just wont play somtimes. dvds that i have watched alot will play sometime (wich logically should be more scratched) but one that i havent whatch wont play.
