I password protected a word file and have forgotten the password

I password protected a word file and have forgotten the password. I tried typing in *.pwl in find files and then deleted them. This still did not work. I don't think all of the .pwl files showed up. Any Suggestions? Thank you.

When you created that password protected file there was a caution box telling you that "If you lose or forget the password, it cannot be recovered"
