What is meant by compressing the harddisk. Can I do that? Will it be useful?

Compressing is the process that allows to "compress" files and folders on a drive to free up space in a drive It will not delete your files.

To compress a drive do the following:

(Note your drive has to use the NTFS file system in order for thid to work)

Open My Computer

Right-click the drive you want to compress

Click Properties

On the General tab, select the Compress drive to save disk space check box, and then click OK

In Confirm Attribute Changes, select the option you want
