Is it "technically" possible to network (i.e. direct connect via ethernet crossover cable without a hub) a new Dell 4550 (2.53 GHz) with WINXP with a Dell Optiplex 5133 (133 MHz) with WIN 95?

I have previously successfully connect 2 Dell Optiplex computers both operating with WIN95, one of which was the Optiplex computer mentioned above. I seemed to have lost the secret sauce.

PS

I listen to you KTAR radio show almost every Saturday; it makes for good listening while doing lawn work.

BTW, you have had shows directed at designing good WEB sites. I must confess that I found your site very confusing and had to work with. I also had to switch from Netscape 4.7 to Windows Explorer 5.5 to get better registration of your site layout.

Sure you can network those two computers.

Just make sure you have the same IP network address and TCP/IP installed Also make sure you have the supported hardware like Nic card, etc.

Note::: remember if you are networking using a crossover cable you are limited in terms of functionality You cannot setup a domain, active directory etc Basically the only thing you can do with a crossover is share files
