Okay, so my laptop will not accept whatever power we've tried to give it. Both myself and my dad have IBM laptops (different versions) and both AC adaptors work on my computer. One day, out of the blue, it just shut off. When I replugged the adaptor into another power outlet, the battery light did not turn on (which it normally does) and I was unable to turn the computer on. There is a light noise coming from the adaptor outlet on the laptop, but other than that, that's it. What's wrong with it???

You'll probably have to let some one take a look at that for you, if the laptop won't power from AC or from the battery that's an indication that the powering to the system board has failed.
