Each time I boot-up, a message box appears: please insert win98 cd-rom. I insert the disk

and the contents menu comes up but nothing else happens.( I think it wants to instal a win program that I do not want)

Also, at each boot, a large box appears, full of folders, ( such as the windows explorer) Listing the contents of drive C.

Also, at each boot, a message box appears, containing the Task scheduler (which Is turned off)

How can I get rid of these annoyances?

Start, left click will not open win explorer.(explorer is opaque) I have to use start, programs to access it.

My sound icon is missing from the task bar after another user installed some audio & video

programs. How do I get it back? Thank you for any tips or instructions.

Check your Device Manager in Control Panel under System If you found yellow marked Question Mark, then you have to install the correct driver But if they installed correctly, then go to Control Panel and Multimedia Click on the option with Sound Icon display on the taskbar A sound icon will appear in the taskbar wherein you can adjust the volume of your speaker.
