When running SETUP on various programs, I get asked what to open the file with. Any ideas on this?

What are the limitations of software compatibility between the US and Europe? When I'm overseas, I'm unable to complete installation of several programs on my work computer or my friend's. When running SETUP on various programs, I get asked what to open the file with. Any ideas on this? Thank you.

That ususally happens when you try to open a file and the computer you are using does not have the program install to support that file It happen here too.
