When I try to start my computer i receive an error message saying i have a missing file
Ok. when I try to start my computer i receive an error message saying i have a missing file(.dll i so recall). It pops up as a black screen with white lettering and it wont let me load windows. How can i fix this? I was thinking of reformattting. I have a hewlett-packard with the 3-4 disc system recovery and I think I could use that but I am not sure... can you please help me out? thanks a lot
This question was answered on March 19, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting. If you operating system does not load because of a missing .dll. You might not have to reformat your hard drive...Boot up your system with a Windows 98 boot disk..This should load the missing file...IF it doesnt you have to tranfer the Dll file from a 98 operating system to a floppy and using the command prompt tranfer the file to your system.
If all fails reinstall your operating system.
