BLUE TINT ON MONITOR. Right from the start, the monitor screen of my Macintosh Performa 630 had a habit of occasionally turning to a nasty shade of dark blue (or sometimes an equally unpleasant red tinge). In use, the screen sometimes flickered or went dim too. I took it back to my local Apple Centre, who tested it for a fortnight (they said!) then swore there was nothing wrong with it.

Solution: I showed the service manager at my local Apple Centre how I could produce the blue tint myself by fiddling with the plug at the back of the monitor that connected it to the computer He said this was because I was shorting it, but insisted there was nothing wrong with it! But this gave me the clue: since then I cured the problem by jiggling the plug around whenever necessary But there is still a bad connection!
