My hard drive(HDD) makes clicking noise, and it is not being detected by the computer. Can you please help me?

My hard drive(HDD) makes clicking noise, and it is not being detected by the computer.

I try to see if the hard drive is connected properly with an IDE cable to the onboard IDE channel. Yes, i was properly connected. Then I checked the power to se if it is connected to the hard drive, and the hard drive is spinning and the jumper setting in the back of the drive is set to Master. Still the same thing can you gve me some more input on correcting this problem.
