In August of 2002 I bought a HP Pavilion computer. The CD-ROM/DVD drive worked fine until about mid-September. Then it worked every now and then. By October 02 the drive didn't work at all. When I use scandisk and PC doctor everything is fine. It is also recognized in "My Computer" and has no problems. When I insert a CD the light blinks and thats all. It says "please insert cd into drive and try again" even if the correct cd is in. How can I fix this?

1 A PROBLEM MAY BE THAT YOUR DRIVERS ARE OUT OF DATE.
2 UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS BY USING THE WINDOWS UPDATE ( THE WORLD OF YOUR DESTOP) OR IN MY PROGRAMS.
3 IF THIS DOESNT WORK MAKE SURE THE CD-ROM AND DVD-ROM ARE PROPERLY CONNECTED.
4 TO CHECK THIS OPEN YOUR COMPUTER AND THERE WILL BE 3 CABLES GOING INTO THE CD ROM AND DVD ROM.
A THE IDE CABLE WHICH IS A WIDE FLAT CABLE
B THE POWER SUPLLY WHICH IS 4 LITTLE CABLES
C AND 1 SMALL CABLE THAT IS USED TO RECOGNIZED THE CD-ROM AND DVD ROM TO YOUR SYSTEM MAKE SURE THIS CABLE IS CONNECTED THIS IS MOSTLY LIKELY THE PROBLEM, WHEN THIS CABLE IS DISCONNECTED THE CD-ROM WILL NOT PLAY.
