Windows automatic update failed, why?

When trying to install windows critical update q329441, which is downloaded automatically from the microsoft web site, i am receiving the message "update not installed". Sure enough, when i look at the installation history after attempting the install, it says "installation failed". I have tried this multiple times and always receive the sme msg. Since i have the automatic update feature turned on, i again receive msg to install the same update again, and again it fails. There are no other error messages of any kind. Any help would be appreciated.

Check with Microsoft web site one or more of your current installed programs maybe clashing with the update this is eveidant with IE6.0 and certain updates check the MS web site for details on the update and if it has any software restrictions.
