I recently bought a new game (xp compatible) I installed the game but it will not open.

This has happend more than once with other games that were compatible. I've updated drivers, I have the latest version of directx, I just don't know what else to do, can you help?

After downloading, the game may still reequire the disk to be inserted.

Delete and re-install the game Open with the disk inserted.

Also the games may be compatable to XP, but may reequire a faster processer.

You have a Pentium II according to your profile,

That may be to slow for the updatablee games and may have trouble opening them up after a couple attempts.

But it is possible that they can do so.

Double check the requirments of the game and your hardware.

Including speed.
