My father downloaded a word pad doc on a floppy

my father downloaded a word pad doc on a floppy then gave it to me to print for him his operating system is xp. when i put it in my drive it showed the disc info but it wouldn't open and showed a error massage that an illegal operation had been performed and would shut down now. i use 98. i told him to send the document as an email attachment to me and i would print it from there. again when i tried to open the document it said it was performing an illegal operation and would shut down now. what is being done wrong here. is it because he is using xp and i .am 98. thanks for your help.

I would have said it was the disk since it might have been formated using XP, but since you said your father sent it to you via e-mail the problem might be the file itself Also if you have a anti virus you might want to check if the file is infected by any virus since its behaving like so.
