How to get DOS to recognize my CD drive?

Hey,

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to get DOS (when the computer has been booted into DOS - ie. not in windows) to recognize my CD drive. I need it for a few programs that should be run in DOS mode, but are on CD. Thanks
