Why doesnt my modem respond

My moden does not respond. It does not go through the process, however, it just turns on and any else. Please tell what can I do.

First thing you might want to do is go to mycomputer rigth click and select properties when you are in properties go to hardware and then click on device manager Once you are in device manager click on modem and see if the device is working or not It will tell you If it is not working properly you may have to install the drivers If it is working properly see if your connection is by the modem or by an tcp/ip If it is tcp you have to click on the modem on setup
