My windows XP installation (no sp) freezes in short intervals. I’ve to turn off the system and wait at least 15 min to get it working again for a short time (the working intervals got shorter).

My hw vendor says the system was tested and is ok.

I’m not sure if the problem is hard ware- or XP-related (suspicion: the asus v9280s (gf4 ti4200 w. newest driver) graphics adapter might have a problem with the elitegroup k7s5a motherboard - board agp 2.0 vs. vga agp 3.0!). Unfortunately there are no spare parts for cross-checking available.

My question is:

a) Is the problem caused by hw-incompatibility or an xp-issue?

b) Solution to either possibility?
