I was watching an audio clip the other night and boom. Computer just died on me. Now when I try to reinstall Windows I get 2 Error messages.

The first one says: Error writing to disk in drive C, hit any key to continue

When I hit a key to continue, I get this error message, "When initializing device SHELL: Cannot find of load required file KRNL386.EXE"

Then the computer shuts down.

This happens after I get about half way through the installation of Windows 98. I have formatted the hard drive several times, with no problems.

I have a Compaq Presario 5304, with a 19 gb hard drive.

Any suggestions very much appreciated.
