I had to restore my computer using the system restore CD. My CD-RW drive was listed by the BIOS as the IDE Secondary Slave. Now the BIOS doesn't see the CD-RW drive at all. Windows ME doesn't pick it up either. I've tried reloading the drivers, but the system still doesn't see the drive.

Ok here is the checklist that you should go follow

1) check to make sure that the cd-rw is working correctly

2)go to the device manager to see if it detects or says if there is anything wrong with the device

3) make sure that all the wires and plugs are installed correctly to the cd-rw drive.

4) try reinstalling your cd-rw installation disk

Hopfully one of these solutions should work out for you another thing make sure that the jumper settings are installed correctly
