My high definition monitor has two small lines across it. Why is it like this?

This question was answered on April 16, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Two thin lines are normal for a aperture grille monitor, and are not a malfunction These are shadows from the damper wires used to stabilize the aperture grille and are most noticeable when the screen's background is a light color.

Solution:

This is a normal function of the characteristics of the monitor therefore is not a defect with the monitor.
