When the computer boots I get 'Bad command or file name'. What should I do?

Cause:

The autoexec.bat or config.sys has a line that is improperly typed or missing

Solution:

See if the computer is reporting which line is 'Bad Command or File name' This can be determined by looking closely to see if it says something similar to 'Bad Command or File name on line 8 of the config.sys' This can also be determined by doing a step by step configuration.

Once you have determined whether the error is in the autoexec.bat or config.sys edit the appropriate line and either remark the line or remove the file from the appropriate file.
