What are cd rom problems

I have a CD rom installed, when I go to My Computer it shows a D drive (CD Rom) but when I go to read a CD it says to insert the CD, even when there is one in there, what gives here!!

The cd rom might be connected improperly Check the inside the computer and make sure that the cd rom is connected properly.
