How long will data burned to cd's last?

Under normal circumstanses information that is burned on a cd will last as long as the liftime of cd as long as the cd is protected and kept under normal conditions That would mean, not scratched, damaged, or placed under extreme heat/ direct sunlight When you buy a cd-r or cd-rw information about the lifetime and care instructions of the cd should be written on there.
