I fitted a new 60gb 7200rpm hard drive, but have problems loading Windows 98. When I switch my computer on it does display anything beyond the opening Packard Bell logo; have noticed too that the floppy drive does not get a 'kick' when I switch the computer on (it used to!). Do I have to configure my new hard drive so that it will recognise the floppy drive? Very much appreciate any help you can give, thank you.

Well it seems to me that you might not have jumperd the hard drive correctly On the hard drve itself it should tell how to configure the hard drive, either Master or Slave A jumper just in case you don't know is a little black or white plastic piece on the hard drive it is on the back of the hard drive you should see it As far as your floppy is concerned, you probably just knocked the data cable loose when you in stalled the new hard drive.
