To clear the hard drive

My hard drive is showing up as 501GB it is only a 40GB. Couple of says ago i need to clear everything off my computer and it came up with any error that said FAT Error

To clear your hard drive the hard way but it is the way that it just might work is to do it through the dos mode since acording to your profile you are using windows 98 this makes it a very easy to do this First you have to restart your computer using the MS DOS mode Once the computer has restarted and leaves you in the DOS black screen type down the Following

C:

Formate

it should then ask you are you sure you want to do this if it does just type down yes and wait till it deletes the entire drive Hopfully this will work if it doesn't let us know and if it does give us a notice anyway good luck
