Can not insert symbols in Office Pro XP Word. Get error message Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry. I have reinstalled the office program and it still does not work. I have a second problem. Word will not print the bottom line in a border on a word doc using an inkjet printer but the same word doc will printi on a Laser Jet. I have tried changing margins etc. The border will show in normal view but does not show in print view and will not print using an inkjet. I have tried it on a HP printer, a Lexmart, & a cannon (all Inkjets). None will print it.

Ok, this what you can do, If you are using a parallel cable for the printer make sure the cable is compatible with other printer, see if a IEEE 1284, make, if the cable is old buy a new one with the standard of IEEE 1284.

Still doesn't work by changing the cable, then check the CMOS setup to make sure the port is EPP ECP, if you have conflict just disable the ECP.

You might also download the latest driver for the printer and make sure that is for Windows XP.

Another possibility is that you are encounter a virus that manipulates your application such as the worm blast, I had an experience with this virus that alot of time gave me a message the word encounter an error messega and close the application automatic without giving me the changes to save it and it happen very often, here what you have to do:

-Go to Microsoft Website and download the latest patches for your Windows XP, or you can go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp, to get the latest update You may require to restart your computer, just follow the instruction

-Also update your antivirus software and after you finish your update make a full scan to your computer.

If you are having problem with the margins, then someone had changing to it, try to go to microsoft website for office support and check there recommendation Otherwise restore Office XP, if still print the same problem then the problem is the printer driver or the printer itself Clean the printer inkjet also clean the inkjet verycareful with denatural alcohol.
